Modern and own technology for highest quality
The production of our professional substrates and hobby soils takes place exclusively in Gramoflor’s own plants in Northern Germany and in Mogente (Iberian Peninsula). New ideas for optimising the production process are constantly developed, tested and implemented by our technical team. For example, we have already commissioned our first own wood fibre plant in 2018 in order to be able to produce our high-quality wood fibre LIGNOFIBRE® ourselves in sufficient quantity and quality.
It is equipped with state-of-the-art refining technology and produces our high-quality wood fibre from the natural wood chips by means of thermal-mechanical defibration. Due to the growing importance of peat substitutes in general and our motivation to steadily increase our peat substitute share, we are planning our second own wood fibre plant at the Neuenkirchen-Vörden site in 2023.
Since 2019, we have also been processing the raw material cocopeat (coconut pulp) ourselves at Gramoflor and using it in three quality grades as a peat substitute for our substrates and hobby soils. For this purpose, the by-product coconut fibre pulp, which is a by-product of coconut processing, is pressed in the countries of origin and delivered to Germany. Gramoflor processes it under controlled German environmental standards.
We are also passionate about improving our production processes. For example, the expanded Substrate & Raw Materials hall, which will be commissioned in 2021, has enabled us to increase efficiency with additional storage capacity for raw materials and substrates as well as automatic feeding. The utilisation of the packaging lines is thus improved and the capacity for bulk loading has been significantly increased.
So we at Gramoflor are always on the move.
