LIGNOFIBRE® coarse
The milestone for coarse substrate structures
Gramoflor proves that opportunities can arise from unforeseen circumstances with its new, RAL certified, coarse quality wood fibre LIGNOFIBRE® coarse.
The current turbulent times are also causing imponderables in the economic process and supply chain in the field of substrate production and professional horticulture. In this situation, Gramoflor is reflecting on its strengths and is increasingly relying on quality wood fibres from the regional raw material wood – and from its own production.
In this way, the company signals a further degree of independence and cultural security to its customers.
In this respect, extraordinary times call for new approaches: Gramoflor, as a flexibly operating family business, has pulled out all the stops and brought forward the introduction of LIGNOFIBRE® coarse, which had only been planned for the middle of the year. Thanks to the tireless interdepartmental efforts of research & development, sales, technical advice and production, it has been possible to make a new coarse wood fibre available to customers in professional horticulture as an additional peat substitute as early as April 2022.
Gramoflor thus takes its peat replacement strategy another big step forward.
LIGNOFIBRE® coarse corresponds to a new quality level in proven LIGNOFIBRE® quality, which can also be used for coarse substrates and thus for larger pots and containers. Gramoflor has reproduced the structural properties of coarse white peat so that LIGNOFIBRE® coarse is an adequate alternative for it and supports structural stability in coarser substrates.
A decisive advantage of the new quality wood fibre is that it avoids waterlogging even in coarse substrates due to its good structural properties. Coupled with its good drainage properties, LIGNOFIBRE® coarse thus supports healthy root development.
It also facilitates re-wetting and promotes air capacity. At the same time, it ensures dry surfaces on the containers and thus reduces weed and moss formation on the substrate.
LIGNOFIBRE® from our own wood fibre plant – now in 4 RAL quality grades!
Since 2018, Gramoflor has been producing its quality wood fibre LIGNOFIBRE® from renewable and domestic raw materials in its own wood fibre plant at the factory in Vörden. The high-quality substrate raw material is produced from wood chips of certified quality through thermal-mechanical defibration.
LIGNOFIBRE® is RAL quality assured and is now available in 4 qualities: undyed medium coarse and dyed with medium structure as well as the very finely structured LIGNOFIBRE®c Xtrafine+. LIGNOFIBRE® coarse now completes the quartet with an undyed, coarse grain.
Gramoflor only launched LIGNOFIBRE®c Xtrafine+, a new extremely fine quality wood fibre, at the end of 2021. This can be used for all growing and propagation substrates and is particularly suitable for small press pots and tray plates. It is characterised by improved machinability compared to its predecessor.
Since LIGNOFIBRE® is made from a renewable and also domestic raw material, the CO2 balance of a substrate can be significantly improved by its use. The higher the wood fibre content, the higher the CO2 savings, which in turn benefits our environment.
