Quality

Quality from the start is our top goal. In order to reach this objective, we have introduced a comprehensive quality management system, which we implement consistently and optimise on a continual basis. The most important elements of our quality management system are:
- Competent and dedicated expert service: We work together with our customers to mutually determine the best all-round product solutions to meet their most diverse needs.
- Mutual cooperation with our suppliers and business partners: We strive to build long-standing relationships and mutual trust with our suppliers. Only in this way can we continue to produce quality substrates and potting soils.
- Raw materials and additives used in the production process must pass a strict quality test: Gramoflor sets high criteria for quality in raw materials and additives, since a superior product can only result from a combination of the best ingredients. Among others, we use the minimum standards of the 'Deutsche Gütegemeinschaft Substrate für Pflanzen e. V.' (Quality Assurance Association Growing Media for Plant Cultivation)..
- Reliable inspection of incoming goods: Our suppliers certifiably guarantee that their merchandise complies with stringent quality standards. All incoming raw material at Gramoflor must additionally pass examination and is inspected in our in-house laboratory as well as in independent, external laboratories.
- Long-standing know-how and utmost accuracy in managing our peat extraction process: Extensive extraction sites located throughout North Germany guarantee that Gramoflor will have its own raw material reserves in close proximity to its production facilities for a long time to come. Owing to over 100 years of experience and competences in the thorough extraction and preparation of premium peat, we can pave the way ourselves for continuing to maintain our tradition of producing the highest quality substrates and potting soils.
- The careful classification and homogenisation of raw materials takes place on-site at the production facility: Whenever it is required, low-impact peat damping ensures that Gramoflor only introduces raw materials to the production chain which meet the highest quality standards. Sifting the material into up to five fractions of white peat and two fractions of black peat enables us to produce substrate structures which meet the most unusual requirements of professional growers.
- The consistent inspection procedure of key production processes at the Institute for Metrology and Technology in Lower Saxony: From the control sampling device volumeter, belt weigher, to the calibrated fertilizer weight dosage unit - all relevant machinery regularly undergoes a strict calibration regimen at Gramoflor. In particular, the calibration of the entire fertilizer weight dosage installation, which helps to balance the pH value and nutritive level of the product, remains a one-of-a-kind technology on the market today. Machines whose constructions cannot be calibrated are regularly assessed and appraised by independent authorised inspectors.
- Elaborate and state-of-the-art safety engineering: Cutting-edge production technologies pioneered by Gramoflor, such as the fractiometer, the fully-automated control sampling device, which is integrated into the production process, and the volumeter make up the core of Gramoflor's quality assurance.
- Reliable cold storage of retain samples in a cold storage cell for at least one year: A constant ideal temperature of 5° C ensures that the substrate's composition can be clearly reproduced months later.
- The automatic generation of internal and external production protocols for every delivery batch: All composition formulas are stored in their respective customer files and can be accessed any time.

- Diligent external supervision by the 'Gütegemeinschaft Substrate für Pflanzen e. V.' (Quality Assurance Association Growing Media for Plant Cultivation): Gramoflor is a voluntary member of the organisation and undergoes this German institution's strict quality inspections at its own volition, thereby fulfilling our own impeccable standards.
- Consistently updated logistics supported by the most modern technical equipment- from our expert services to the reliable delivery of our final products to our customers.
- Sustainable renaturation of exhausted peatland areas in close cooperation with nature conservation authorities.
The committed implementation of our comprehensive quality control system is based on Gramoflor's company mission, which clearly outlines our credo and objectives. These allow us to create transparent and certifiable work flows, as well as to articulate what our responsibilities are, moving forward in continuing to instil high quality standards in the minds of our staff.
